Filing services — searches, applications, examination responses and fee schedules are on our practice site.

MY CNTM China Trademark Specialist

Our team

One desk, one file, no hand-offs.

Chinese trademark work goes wrong in the gaps — between the person who quotes, the person who files, and the person who answers when the examiner objects. So a file is never split across departments here: the person who first answers your enquiry runs your matter through to registration.

Lead agent

CNIPA-registered trademark agent

Responsible for the substance of every file: search strategy, class and goods wording, examination responses, oppositions and contested proceedings.

8+ years in Chinese trademark practice, with a focus on matters involving foreign applicants and conflicting earlier filings.

International desk

International client manager

Your primary point of contact: scoping the matter, explaining what the Trademark Office has said, and making sure deadlines are understood on both sides.

Works in English throughout, and is used to coordinating with foreign brand owners and their own attorneys or agents.

Translation

Head of translation

A certified IP translator handling the Chinese side of every document — mark descriptions, goods and services wording, and correspondence with the Trademark Office.

The point of keeping translation in-house is accuracy: the person translating your mark is the person who knows the file it belongs to.

How we are organised

One file, one contact, stated commitments.

We do one thing — Chinese trademark work for clients based outside mainland China — and the way the desk is arranged is a deliberate part of the service.

  • ContinuityThe person who opens your file stays on it — no queues, no re-briefing
  • LanguageEnglish for everything you receive; Chinese for what must be filed in Chinese
  • ResponseWithin one business day, Monday to Friday (GMT+8)
  • DeadlinesWe track examination and opposition deadlines ourselves and warn you in advance
  • Outside counselWhere a matter requires court representation, we say so and work with qualified Chinese counsel

Working across time zones

What it is like to instruct an agency in China.

Nothing about the process requires you to travel, translate or guess — but it is worth knowing what to expect.

Time zone

We work on China Standard Time, GMT+8. An email sent from Europe or the Americas in the morning usually has an answer waiting the next morning; anything marked urgent is acknowledged the same working day.

English documentation

Your instructions, our advice and the reports you receive are in English. Marks that need a Chinese rendering are translated by us, and you see the translation before anything is filed.

The Power of Attorney

A signed Power of Attorney is required before an agency may act for you before the Trademark Office. We send it with instructions for signing, stamping and returning — this is the one document that always travels in the other direction.

No intermediaries

We are not a reseller passing work to an unseen local firm. The agency you engage is the agency that files, and the email address on this site reaches the desk that does the work.

Prefer to know who you are writing to?

Write to us and you will get a named person at the desk, not a ticket number.
